  3. Hmm. I think I remember standing beside you at the half-way sign and therefore share culpability, and a bit of your excitement. I'll be waiting.

  7. Jon,
I am so proud of you for making the journey your about to go on. I think your incredibly brave and inspirational for attempting to walk so many miles often alone. It's something I do not think i could do but I know it's something you were born to do :) It's really cool that Grandma and Papa could help you with one of your life goals. I know they will be with you on your incredible hike! It's wonderful that you are also giving back with your donations to ECHO. Really jon, I am overall very impressed. I wish you all the well wishes in the world, me and brian will be praying for you and we will be thinking of you on your long journey "there and back again"! Love you and God bless :) - Becca

  9. Jon,
I remember WAY back when in a study hall we shared, we talked about this as being one of your life goals. I am so thrilled to see you are attempting this monumental hike. You can SO do this! We'd love to hike a bit with you when you make it up this way! My prayers go with you as I follow your progress and live vicariously through your steps. Hopefully someday my footsteps will follow the same narrow, well worn path. May you feel God's presence with you always!

    Peace,
    Sara (Brown)

  13. Enjoy the Smokies; sorry we're not as close to the trail as we were when we lived in Knoxville. I'm excited to follow your journey on here!

I've got a cousin who lives in Peru, VT who has hiked the full AT. If you need anything near the end of your journey, let me know and I'll help you get in contact with them.

  14. A hikers blessing from Edward Abbey for your first day of hiking and trip, "May your trails be crooked, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds."

    Good luck today.

  17. Hi Jon,
In general, you're very well missed in my life. I think it's coming up on two years since I last saw you and it's been way too long! I'm very sorry I missed the chance to hike with you while you were coming through PA - I should have paid closer attention to your whereabouts. I hope you're enjoying your journey thus far and looking forward with great anticipation to the miles ahead. If Tera's with you now, please pass on my hellos. I can't wait to catch up and spend some time together when you're done, whether that be in PA, West Virginia, or Grand Rapid. Have fun and stay safe! love you! - becky harlan

  18. Jon - I am so glad that you are able to fulfill your dream and make this hike. It is likely to have a more profound effect on your life than your college experience did. My dream of section hiking the trail will not be fulfilled, not even completing PA. May the remainder of your trip be a blessed time. Give a big HELLO on the top of Katahdin for me.
