Mail Drops

Yes, I welcome mail!

Every so often I will be traveling into towns in order to resupply, pick up mail, and perhaps enjoy a soft bed, a hearty meal, an internet connection, and a warm shower. As a thoughtful gesture of hospitality, many businesses and post offices are willing to hold packages for hikers along the way. For those of you interested in sending mail, I will keep updated mail drop information below, listing both the location and estimated time of arrival.

There are some things to keep in mind if you're thinking about sending a package:
  • Consider that what you send I will either have to consume immediately, carry with me, send home, re-gift to someone else, or leave behind!
  • If you don't think your package will arrive in time, please wait until the next mail drop address is posted as I won't likely head south to get it!
  • Alternatively, note that if your package arrives too soon, it may be discarded after being held at the mail drop for thirty days or so.
  • If you do send mail, please also send me an email so that I know to be on the lookout and can try my best not to miss it.
Here is the upcoming mail drop (address exactly as follows):

General Delivery
c/o Jon Dent
Great Barrington, MA 01230
*in lower corner write: please hold for AT thru-hiker ETA 7/11
(Jon will be picking up mail here on Monday, July 11th)

In addition, here is a link that covers many of the participating post offices along the way, though I may prefer not to visit those that are located farther from the trail.
